Local residents can be empowered to make a difference to the quality of their own lives, that of their family and their neighbours by improving their local environment.
Often it doesn’t take much money to create a community garden to improve the outside areas, but it does require planning, preparation and delivery. In these situations, the use of Webquests can provide a valuable mechanism to enable community based groups such as residents associations to structure the planning and preparation stages. ACL, though outlets such as UK online centres can broaden their portfolio by embracing the concept of Webquests.
The majority of information residents will need will be accessible via the Internet. Other information should may be accessible through the use of the humble telephone and/or some good old fashioned leg work!

• Introduces the use of technology into a subject area which may not initially been seen to lend itself to this approach. • Introduces a blended learning teaching style • Demonstrates how learning can be introduced into and alongside the e-government agenda. • Provides an opportunity to bring together, engage and facilitate negotiated collaboration on the part of residents, Council Officers and the tutor.
