Plan tree-planting for a community centre!

Check out the whole Gardening Online course at www.learners.org.uk. Go to Courses and scroll to Gardening Online.
Welcome to the tree-planting webquest!

What is a webquest?
A webquest is an internet-based activity where you are set a task to complete. Your instructions, and the information you need to find, are all here on the internet.

Why a tree-planting webquest?
This webquest will help you find out about choosing, planting and caring for trees.

When choosing a tree, you’ll consider native and non-native trees to the UK, evergreens and deciduous trees, which trees flower or have berries to attract birds and insects. You’ll also find out about getting the right size tree for your space.
How can I do this?
The tree-planting Webquest can be done in a group, say at a community learning centre, with a facilitator or tutor.
You can do the Webquest on your own, wherever you have internet access. For feedback and a certificate of completion send your completed work to an online tutor. Details of how to do this are in the Evaluation section.

What about other gardening topics?
This tree-planting webquest is part of Gardening Online, a free organic gardening course from the Greater Manchester Community Grid for Learning. The course contains many other gardening topics like composting, growing vegetables, organic weed control and much more. The other gardening topics are not webquests, but come in the form of lively, interactive tutorials and exercises; there are also instructions for jobs in your garden. You can find out more by visiting www.learners.org.uk and going to the courses area.
