Step 1: Read "Sex Education" by Nancy Kress. Go to our
Message Board
and respond to the questions posted by adding a comment.
Step 2: Go to the RESOURCE page of this WebQuest and click the first link. Read the sample student paper.
Step 3: Evaluate the paper using the rubric posted on the EVALUATION page of this WebQuest. Print the Persuasive Writing Rubric from this link and turn it in to your teacher.
Step 4: On the RESOURCE page, click the TOPIC BRAINSTORM and the RESEARCH PROPOSAL links. Print both documents. Answer the questions to help you narrow your focus for your position paper.
Step 5: Now that you have a focused topic, use a search engine of your choice to research supporting reasons in favor of your argument and in opposition to it. You will have to acknowledge the opposition and refute its claim before concluding your paper. BE SURE TO PROPERLY DOCUMENT YOUR SOURCES!
Step 6: Choose either the GRAPHIC ORGANIZER or ORGANIZATION GUIDELINES link to structure an outline for your paper. The first link provides a chart and the second link simply list descriptors for each paragraph. Use the outline format that will work best for your writing style.
Step 7: Type a first draft of your paper. Print a copy.
Step 8: Using the rubric on the EVALUATION page of this WebQuest, have a classmate edit your paper.
Step 9: Using the WRITING RESOURCE and USING TRANSITIONS links, proofread your edited copy for any revisions that may be necessary and type your final draft.
Step 10: Turn in your final copy along with all the work from the previous steps, INCLUDING A WORKS CITED PAGE, for a grade.
**Go to the CONCLUSION page to finish this WebQuest.**
