Biography
After graduating from Keuka College in 1998, I moved back to my native Geneva, NY where I have resided since. Aside from summer camp employment and long term substituting positions, I began my teaching career at Midlakes Middle School in 1999. About the same time, I met my husband Matthew. He is a buyer for Parts Unlimited in Wisconsin and greatly enjoys the industry. We have two beautiful girls, Tovah who is seven, and Alaina who is three. Our family is currently in transition as we are moving to Wisconsin in the next few months.
Just before my youngest daughter was born, I graduated from Nazareth College after completing a master's program in Liberal Studies.
After almost six years with Midlakes I decided it was time to pursue other avenues in education. I began my commute to St. Joseph's Villa where I worked as an ELA/Reading Curriculum Specialist. During my time at the Villa, I helped design and create a new library literacy lab for our students and staff through a partnership with a local law agency. When my commute became too great and my time away from my children too trying, I moved closer to home to work at Keuka College as an adjunct English instructor. I truly enjoyed teaching at the college level. It is something I will revisit one day. Currently, I work for Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES at the Technical and Career Center teaching technical reading and writing courses.
Apart from motherhood, I greatly enjoy reading and writing poetry and children's literature. I am a recently published author of a memoir titled, In Full Bloom, which chronicles my journey as an adopted child. I am also writing a children's book at the moment with the help of my daughters. I enjoy bike riding and walks along Seneca Lake with our dog, Wagner. I hope to take up violin lessons again when I can find the time.
