Step 1: On the RESOURCE page, click the link to the article titled, "Principles of Estimating". Read the article.
Step 2: Go to the
Message Board
and respond to the questions posted about this article.
Step 3: On the RESOURCE page, click the first link, ESTIMATE GRID, and print a copy of the worksheet.
Step 4: On the Estimate Grid, fill in the vehicle and owner information given to you on the TASK page.
Step 5: Call a local body shop to find out their hourly labor rate and materials cost (see RESOURCE page link). Use the same amount for paint labor. Determine how paint and material are figured. Note the amounts on the ESTIMATE GRID. Add in the amount for local tax at the bottom of the grid.
Step 6: Calculate the total repair cost to complete the information requested on the ESTIMATE GRID.
