It is 1939, a young boy from London, Willie Beech, is evacuated to the country as Britain waits for the imminent announcement of war. He is placed in the care of grumpy pensioner Tom Oakley, who has his own troubles to solve. Your task is to find out how these two unlikely friends develop their relationship; how they help each other to flourish, grow and cope with the troubles ahead. Also, you are challenged to find out just what it was like to be a child living in Britain during World War Two.
Over the next four weeks you will be asked to complete a number of challenges linked to both your literacy and history lessons. Each task will require you to carry out independent research using the internet links provided in the resources page. Once you have found all the necessary information, you will have to present it appropriately using ICT. How you choose to do this is up to you.
